Application AlertMobile Gateway__ 🔒
Operation
This solution uses the push notification service via the AlertMobileGateway and AlertMobile installed on a smartphone. To operate this communication, the smartphone must have an Internet connection.
The AlertMobile gateway is a Windows system service that provides a gateway between the ALERT server and the Android/Apple push notification server via the Internet.
ALERT transmits alarms, via AlertMobile Gateway, to smartphones with the corresponding notification service (Google Cloud Messaging for Android or Apple Push notification service for Apple).
The following diagram shows the network configuration.
Ports required for AlertMobile Gateway
The following TCP ports must be open in the firewall.
Between ALERT and the AlertMobile Gateway service (only if both are not installed on the same machine)
- TCP port 8732 in both directions (incoming and outgoing) on both computers
or
- TCP port 8080 outgoing to Alert computer and incoming to AlertMobile Gateway computer
Between AlertMobile Gateway and Internet/Web
Push notification service:
- TCP port 5228 output
Between AlertMobile and ALERT or AlertMobile Gateway
- TCP port 8080 input
Note complémentaire
- Please enable SSL in your firewall settings.

New Windows service
Stop / start
After installing AlertMobileGateway, a separate Windows service was created, as shown in the screenshot below. Like all Windows background services, this service can be started and stopped.
Customize Windows service
If you wish to modify certain AlertMobile Gateway parameters (there is no graphical configuration interface), you must stop the service and open the "https://alertmobile.gateway.windowsservice.exe.config%22/ file.
Port numbers can be modified in the userSettings section:
Once the file has been modified, please restart the AlertMobile Gateway service to apply the changes.
Note :
AlertMobile Gateway is an application accessible from outside your infrastructure, and must be configured in coordination with your IT department. It can be installed on a computer separate from the one hosting the Alert server, in a so-called "DMZ" zone. In this case, the configuration parameters will be determined in accordance with your security strategy.
Alert configuration
An example of how to configure AlertMobile Gateway in connection with ALERT is shown here. Your environment and security strategy may differ, but the principles outlined should be respected.
Open ALERT and select Configuration/Plugins/AlertMobile/Gateway to activate the connection between ALERT and AlertMobile Gateway.
Note :
The parameters cited in this paragraph are related to the data in the previous paragraph by way of example. In the case of a production start-up, these data are determined by your IT department.
The host address of the AlertMobile Gateway machine can now be set:
- If this is the same computer as the one where ALERT is installed, please use localhost or 127.0.0.1
- ALERT communicates with AlertMobile Gateway on TCP port 8732 by default
- If you wish to use an HTTP connection (port 8080 will be used), please check Use HTTP connection for activation.
- If the HTTP connection requires a specific proxy server, please configure it.
In this example, the server computer running Alert + AlertMobile Gateway is connected to the Internet. This enables Alert to notify smartphones of alarms and receive operator interactions on AlertMobile. The production architecture in your case may be different, and will be recommended by your IT department.
